About Me

Alexis K. Phillips

I've always had a passion for writing and am thrilled to be combining it with my other love: sustainability. I grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania, so I learned what sustainability meant from a young age. I come from four generations of entrepreneurs, which shaped my growth mindset and the optimism I bring to every project.

Before founding Renewable Writing LLC, I was a project manager for cleantech and solar microgrid startups. I saw firsthand how difficult it was to communicate complex energy solutions clearly and that there was a gap I could fill.

I hold an MSc in Renewable Energy Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and Instituto Superior Técnico Lisboa (earned through a full-ride scholarship from InnoEnergy) and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University.

Since 2021, I've collaborated with over 100 renewable energy and cleantech companies to transform complex tech into clear, credible content with enough depth for technical audiences, while being engaging and easy to understand for the mass market.

Outside of work, I'm an avid traveler, scuba diver, snowboarder, and hiker. I've explored almost 40 countries while living in five of them aross three continents, and for the past four years I've been based in the rainforests of Costa Rica—one of the first countries to run on 100% renewables.
